Manufacturing process

Obviously, because of the weather, Aloe Vera plants do not grow naturally in Canada! We would need gigantic greenhouses to be able to harvest sufficient raw material to manufacture products. So ALOEX products are made with organically grown Aloe Vera, mainly from Texas fields but also from Mexico and Florida, all of them pesticide and insecticide free. The plant we use is of the Aloe Vera Barbadensis Miller variety.

The plump leaves are handpicked at maturity, the plant then being at least 1 meter or ± 3 feet in height and approximately 3 years old. The fleshy leaves are then quickly taken to the extraction facility to prevent contamination and enzyme oxidization of the leaf gel.

In the following hours, the leaves are stripped of their skin to extract the jelly looking semi solid inner leaf filet. The yellowish and sticky sap from the spiky tubules of the leaves is eliminated because it contains aloin which is an irritating and purgative constituent. Aloin is often referred to as latex, sap, exudate, juice. This is why all ALOEX finished products are made solely from the inner leaf gel, free of this non desirable substance.

Aloe Vera gel is therefore this central, inner part of the leaf. It is crushed to eliminate the water which represents close to 99% of the filet, then filtered to further ensure the elimination of aloin. This way, only the biologically active constituents of the plant remain. The liquefied gel then looks like a juice to which are added a minimal quantity of preservatives, once again to prevent oxidization and to protect the nutrients contained in the plant.

This liquefied gel is then transported to Canada in sterile drums to be transformed into Aloex finished products, in GMP licensed laboratories on the South Shore of Montreal. All our exclusive product formulations have been approved by Health Canada authorities. Our mission has always been to offer high quality products containing as much Aloe Vera as possible and as little of anything else!
